Dr. Joseph Stetter
President, Chief Technology Officer, and Chairman of the Board –
KWJ Engineering, Inc.[2007-]
President and Managing Partner – Spec Sensors, LLC [2012-]
President and Founder – JST Consulting, LLC [2019-]
Visiting Scholar, Mechanical Engineering –
Georgia Institute of Technology, Atlanta GA  [2010-]

Joe received a Ph.D in Physical Chemistry from the University at Buffalo (SUNY) in 1975 and has been at the forefront of chemical sensor and associated technology as a leading researcher, entrepreneur, author, and educator for more than 40 years.  In his early career, Dr. Stetter developed and patented solid-state and electrochemical sensors, built the first operational sensor-array based instrument (electronic nose), and marketed the first electrochemical dosimeters for gas detection. Instrument and sensor products he championed over the years have been deployed for personal protection and environmental monitoring. These sensors have saved lives, improved worker health, and promoted the well-being of people and the planet.
As Professor of Chemistry at the Illinois Institute of Technology, Dr. Stetter taught both chemistry and entrepreneurship [in the Stewart School of Business], while advancing the applications of nanotechnology in gas detection.
Dr. Stetter has founded, developed, and merged several technology-based sensor companies, received numerous awards for his work, and published hundreds of scientific papers.  With over 50 patents, his work is the foundation of many sensor and gas detection products at both KWJ Engineering Inc. and SPEC-sensors, LLC.  with several sensors in production for more than 25 years.
Dr. Stetter not only continues to innovate and develop products for the social good including “smart, IoT-systems, and wearable” sensors, but also mentors a new generation of engineers and scientists.
Recently, Dr. Stetter founded JST Consulting, LLC to enable time-efficient and cost-effective delivery of high-tech services to industrial companies interested in sensor development and applications.
